RIO DE JANEIRO FOR FOODIES: DELICIOUS WALKING TOURS & BACKSTREET TASTINGS
|
 |
|
This might be the best and most delicious way to discover Rio de Janeiro! Our fun and informative foodie experiences give a tasty and
authentic look at many different aspects of Rio's culinary culture. Guests are taken to
different neighborhoods of the city, tasting a
wide variety of food and drinks from across Brazil. We visit
street markets, bars, restaurants, street food stalls and
juice bars. The tour is spiced with a few non-food stops, including the Selarón Steps and the Lapa Arches. The pace is relaxed, with plenty of breaks and stops along the way, making the tour
suitable for young and old alike. Also available: tasty bar hopping for nighthawks. Please

A SUBWAY FOR QUITO: A PRAISE TO SUSTAINABLE URBAN TRANSPORT
|
Quito’s first metro line is scheduled to begin operations this year! The project aims at a better life quality in the city - by reducing travel time, generating socioeconomic inclusion of people in the lower-income outlying neighbourhoods,
saving fuel, cutting the number of accidents and creating a
cleaner environment. The city hopes to see a massive shift from private automobiles to public transport, resulting in
decreased greenhouse gas emissions and
improved air quality. 320 000 passengers are expected to travel daily on the
22 km metro line which will connect the north and south of Quito in less than 30 minutes.
15 stops are projected, including one in the Old Town. Contact us for more information on sustainable travel in Quito and Ecuador!

AN ARTISTIC APPROACH TO BUENOS AIRES: FILETEADO WITH ALFREDO GENOVESE
|
Fileteado is a form of decorative art that was born in Buenos Aires at the beginning of the 20th century when Italian immigrants started to adorn vehicles with small ornaments. Today the fileteado has become an
iconographic symbol of the city's modern culture, and it can be seen everywhere from painted store windows and vintage cars to Coca Cola bottles, Nike shoes and metal plates sold at street markets.
SAT now offers exclusive fileteado workshops with Alfredo Genovese, one of the most important artists of the city,
at his Fileteado Porteño studio. Guests learn about theory, technique and composition of this delicate art form and
experience a part of Buenos Aires that is just as authentic as it is the tango. Contact us for more information on tours and supporting programs!

DIEGO THE GIANT TURTOISE RETURNS TO GALÁPAGOS
|
 |
|
Diego is a giant tortoise who is said to have saved his species from extinction by fathering around 800 descendants. Around 50 years ago there were only two males and 12 females of Diego's species alive on Galápagos' Española Island and they were too spread out to reproduce.
He was among 14 male tortoises selected from different zoos in the world to take part in a breeding programme on Santa Cruz Island that began in the 1960s and since then produced more than 2,000 giant tortoises. The 100-year-old tortoise is believed to have been taken from the Galápagos in the first half of the 20th century by a scientific expedition.
This March, after almost 80 decades, Diego will be returned to his native island of Española and released into the wild. Interested in making Diego's aquaintance?
