Bahia not only offers authentic Carnival celebrations but is also famous for its Festa da Nossa Senhora da Boa Morte, making the small town of Cachoeira an international meeting point to celebrate the Brazilian-African culture.

FLIP / INTERNATIONAL LITERATURE FESTIVAL - PARATY, JULY 26-30, 2017
The charming coastal town of Paraty hosts a standout book fest, attracting well-known Brazilian and international authors. Every year since 2003, FLIP has offered a unique experience infused with literature. The five-day event features readings, conferences, round-table discussions, music, dancing, and food. Always staged together with the town that hosts it, the festival is more than an event, it is a cultural statement. As an ongoing interaction with the arts, it provides experiences focused above all on diversity. On the margins of the Perequê-Açu River, in a marquee especially mounted for the festival, authors meet for conversations that cover different themes, including theater, cinema and science. ‘Flipinha’, ‘FlipZona’ and ‘FlipMais’ make up the festival programme, with activities that combine children’s and youth literature, performance, debates, theatre and the visual arts.
OUR HOTEL PICK IN PARATY - CASA TURQUESA
It’s hard to imagine a better location in Paraty – the hotel sits on a quiet street lined with historic houses overlooking the quays and the bay in the heart of the historic centre. Casa Turquesa offers understated, homely luxury. The owner Tete Etrusco welcomes her guests, sits with them for tea or leaves recommendations for what to see and do in Paraty. The decorative items which tastefully litter the hotel feel personally chosen by her from a lifetime of travel in Europe and Latin America. Public spaces are carefully designed. The building is an original 17th-century Portuguese mansion turned modish and contemporary. For your short term bookings: Casa Turquesa is offering promotional rates (3x2 and 4x3) plus special complimentary services and surprises for bookings until December 20th, 2017. Please  contact us for rates and packages.
FESTA DA NOSSA SENHORA DA BOA MORTE - CACHOEIRA / BAHIA, AUGUST 12-17, 2017
Celebrated first in 1820, the Festa da Nossa Senhora da Boa Morte is one of the most fascinating festivals in Brazil and worth a special trip to see it. For five days each August, the historic town of Cachoeira in the northeastern state of Bahia hosts the most important festival of the African Heritage calendar in Latin America. Organized by the Sisterhood of Good Death, the festival is celebrated by the descendants of slaves, who praise their liberation with dance, and a mix of themes from Candomblé and Catholicism. It is a living tribute to the freed Africans in Bahia and to the African Culture. Last minute options available!
FESTIVAL DA CACHACA - PARATY, AUGUST 17-30, 2017
As anyone who has experienced it can attest, cachaça is a beautiful but dangerous mistress. Seductive, fiery and utterly Brazilian, the sugar-cane firewater can be the sweet making-and-breaking of nights out all over the country and soon it will be the toast of the 35th edition of the “Festival da Cachaça” (“Sugar Cane Rum Festival”), dedicated to culture and flavors, with live music and party all day. From August 17th to August 30th, the famous colonial city of Paraty raises its glass to cachaça, or pinga as it is also known, in a festival of artisan producers, music, dance and photography. Visitors will be able to sample traditional and alternative flavors.
REVEILLON - RIO DE JANEIRO, DECEMBER 31, 2017
Join the most impressive New Year celebrations in the world, with two million people gathering in Rio de Janeiro. Copacabana Beach is the epicentre of the action, where celebrations officially start at around 8pm. Live music gets the crowd in the mood. It is customary to wear white in Rio on New Year's Eve - said to bring good luck for the New Year. People appease the goddess Iemanja by throwing flowers toward the sea. By midnight, you have to eat 7 pieces of raisins. Do not throw the seeds though. Keep it in your wallet and you will surely have money in that wallet all the time. The midnight fireworks are the highlight of the evening.  Contact us for more information on SAT packages around New Year's Eve!
CARNIVAL TIME IN BRAZIL - RIO DE JANEIRO, FEBRUARY 9-14, 2018
The biggest party of the year draws nearer! The Rio Carnival 2018 is just around the corner. The city's samba school members are already preparing to allure everyone into joining the feasts. They are joined by a number of choreographers, who have invested tremendous efforts in preparing costumes and floats. During the parades at the Sambadrome, every school has eighty minutes to demonstrate their skills and convince the judges of their talents. Points are granted for several categories such as costumes, samba song and theme. Ash Wednesday is the day when the results are announced, and the best six schools make their ultimate performance the next Saturday (Winner's Parade). Tickets for the Rio Carnival sell very quickly, so please purchase them in advance. By joining a samba school at the Sambadromo, you’ll enjoy the true spirit of the carnival. As the schools allow people to join their fervor and take part in the parade you’ll feel just like one of the many dancers.  Contact us for tickets, packages and further information!
