SAT FAM TO BOLIVIA: VERONIKA, GRETELL, KARIN & SUSANA ON THE ROAD!
|
We at SAT are all bitten by the travel bug. The idea of getting away for a while is thrilling, especially when it is for a
familiarization trip in order to become a real specialist on a product, a destination or an experience. Well, this time
four ladies from our SAT Peru office were the lucky ones, sent on a mission to
explore Bolivia in deep, visiting amazing places and many hotels on the way. Veronika, Gretell, Karin and Susana crossed the Sacred
Titicaca Lake, walked the streets of
La Paz, ventured into the
mines of Potosí, passed some time in the colonial city of
Sucre, and finally reached one of the major highlights of the country:
Uyuni. Karin and Susana also explored
Rurrenabaque, deep in the Bolivian Amazon. The trip offered a great chance to learn about Bolivia - and we are happy to share our expertise :)!

NEW ENTRANCE RULES FOR MACHU PICCHU
|
|
Peru’s Ministry of Culture announced the new entrance rules for visiting Machu Picchu. These new laws will affect all visitors to Machu Picchu that are visiting the Inca citadel. From July 1st, and for a period of 2 years, the following laws apply:
Entrance tickets to Machu Picchu will be split into 2 entrance times: AM Entrance, from 6 am – 12 pm / PM Entrance, from 12 pm – 5.30 pm. Visitors have 4 hours time to visit the ruin site of Machu Picchu. Currently most visitors enter the citadel in the morning. The afternoon tickets will be sold at a reduced rate of USD 35.00 per person. With this measure the government strives for a constant number of visitors instead of peaks.
All visitors entering Machu Picchu must be accompanied by a guide. Guides must be official Machu Picchu guides or licensed tourist guides. Guides are only permitted to take maximum group sizes of 16 people. A second visit on the next day is permitted without a guide, showing both entrance tickets of Day 1 and Day 2 when entering.
Entrance to Huayna Picchu Mountain is permitted in two distinct entrance windows. First entrance: 7 am – 8 am. Second entrance: 10 am – 11 am. The visitor must sign in and out of the trek at the control post, at the start of the trail head.
Entrance to Machu Picchu Mountain is permitted in two distinct entrance windows. First entrance: 7 am – 8 am. Second entrance: 9 am – 10 am. All visitors must have left the trek by 3pm. The Machu Picchu Mountain trek is suitable for experienced hikers only.
Note: The ticket for Huayna Picchu and / or for Machu Picchu Mountain is a combination ticket with the general Machu Picchu entrance ticket. Combination tickets allow for additional time to visit.
From July 1st on, there will be a 4-month trial window in which the authorities will be quite flexible when applying the new law. There might be more changes - we will keep you posted!
Please contact us for further informations and updates on the new law!

A LOST CITY AND DEEP JUNGLE: AN UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURE IN COLOMBIA
|
Think waterfalls. Steamy jungle. Native villages. Ancient ruins.
La Ciudad Perdida has a history that stretches back 650 years before Machu Picchu. The Tayrona people built the city they called ‘Teyuna’. The Spanish invasion pushed the natives high into the Sierra Nevada until they were so dispersed that their numbers dwindled and their cities were abandoned. The jungle reclaimed the Lost City… until tombraiders found gold. Few tourists have ventured into this area of South America.
The journey is still one of challenge and discovery. There are
1,200 mossy steps leading up to the entrance of the Lost City. The
5-6 walking days consist of 4 hour hikes. Most of the time you’ll be sleeping in a hammock. Ready to venture an ancient South American world?

AUTHENTIC ARGENTINA: FILETEADO DRAWING CLASS AT BAROLO PALACE, BUENOS AIRES
|
Declared a national historic monument in 1997, the
Palacio Barolo was once South America's tallest building. The building constitutes one of the largest monuments to the work of Dante Alighieri, the major Italian poet of the Middle Ages, and is a unique example of an attempt to marry literature and architecture.
SAT now invites you to visit the majestic palace, discover its history, and enjoy breathtaking views from the tower's lighthouse. The visit concludes with a
"Fileteado Porteño" class, allowing a glimpse into the hidden drawing art of Buenos Aires. The class includes all materials, and guests will take home their own designed fileteado drawing. Please

FOR THE SWEET TOOTH: THE ALFAJORES OF ARGENTINA AND URUGUAY
There’s a reason this simple cookie defines the cafe scene in Buenos Aires and Montevideo and has entire cafes devoted to it all across Latin America. It’s maybe the best cookie that ever was. Dulce de leche, and condensed milk in all its forms, is practically a religion in South America, leanding an extra layer of sweetness to its sweets. In Uruguay and Argentina, it’s layered between biscuits. Sometimes covered in chocolate, sometimes dusted with coconut, it comes in infinite varieties. Pair with a cup of coffee for a brain-buzzing midday
pick-me-up!
