RESPONSIBLE TOURISM AWARD FOR TREN ECUADOR!
Tren Ecuador has received the 2016 World Responsible Tourism Award during the World Responsible Tourism Day at WTM in London. Tren Ecuador also took the Gold in the ‘Best for Poverty Reduction & Inclusion’ category, for reversing the traditional approach of luxury train travel and creating shared value with local enterprises and people along the tracks. The company gives a great example of how responsible tourism can be adopted as a core part of business, while still being commercially successful and delivering benefits for local communities at the same time. SAT offers different itineraries throughout South America including responsible train journeys. Be part of this concept and explore Ecuador in-depth, all along the old railroads of the country. HEART & SOUL OF BRAZIL - SALVADOR DA BAHIA EXPLORATIONS!
Music and rhythm are well at home in Salvador: the sound of drums and percussion fills the air, and people are dancing in the streets. Salvador da Bahia is often said to be the heart of Brazil, gateway to some of the most impressive landscapes of the whole continent, and craddle of the Afro-Brazilian culture in the country. SAT offers distinct and colorful journeys to the region. A new 3-day program for private groups involves the exploration of the Reconcavo region and its traces of colonization, a boat tour to the lovely beaches of Ilha dos Frades, as well as a visit to Cachoeira and the ruins of its San Francisco Convent. Furthermore guests explore the local tobacco culture! Please  contact us for more information!
ARGENTINA: BIKING & KAYAKING AROUND BUENOS AIRES & THE TIGRE DELTA
SAT offers a new biking and kayaking adventure at the Tigre Delta, located close to Buenos Aires in the middle of the Paraná river! The tour starts at Plaza San Martín. By bike it is just a short drive to the Retiro station, where you take a train to the town of Tigre. With its lively rivers and green islands, the Tigre Delta is one of the most popular attractions around Buenos Aires, both for tourists and for Buenos Aires residents. It is a charming place with summer houses, rowing clubs and water taxis. During our tour we first bike the delta and pass the lovely Mercado de los Frutos, where mainly handcrafts and furniture are sold. Then we continue our exploration by kayak. We return to Buenos Aires by train and bike. Keen on getting started?  Contact us
The Chilean government converted the former airport Los Cerrillos near Santiago into the state-run “National Centre for Contemporary Art Chile”. The building is considered a landmark Modernist site and will house the collection of the National Council of Culture and Arts, including works of Norton Maza, Félix Lazo and Natasha Pons. Its first exhibition, An Image called World (Una Imagen Llamada Palabra), will be on display until January 30th, 2017 and features Demian Schopf, Eugenio Dittborn and Alicia Villarreal, among others. The museum, which opened its doors on September 23rd, aims to promote the “understanding of the Chilean contemporary art, in connection with the Latin American scene” as stated on its official website.
PERU’s MANU NATIONAL PARK DECLARED WORLD's TOP BIODIVERSITY HOTSPOT!
Peru’s Manu National Park hosts the highest biodiversity of terrestrial vertebrates on earth! Research was based on photographs of an array of camera traps installed in emblematic areas around the globe. According to the results of the image analysis, Manu National Park ranked first in terrestrial species (mammals and birds). One of the few lodges inside the park is the Manu Wildlife Center, which provides a perfectly comfortable base for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, birders and those who simply want a true relaxing rainforest experience. The lodge is strategically located in an area of forest that counts on the highest diversity of micro-habitats in the Manu area. SAT offers various options to explore the National Park, including shorter 4-5 day packages or more comprehensive 6-9 day explorations. The best time to travel is from May to October. Book here!

FERNANDO GROSSO, SAT ARGENTINA (ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE)
Our dear Fernando has been part of the SAT family since 2006; a few weeks back we celebrated his 10th anniversary! Fer is 35 years old, lives in Buenos Aires and loves travelling. He knows South America well, has been to Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile, and as a passionate Argentinean he of course knows his country by heart. His favorite destination is the Argentinean Northwest with its amazing and diverse landscapes, its indigenous people and traditional music. According to Fernando, this is an awesome cultural destination with great views and the best authentic food of the country! In his free time Fernando is part of an Argentinean folklore choir & orchestra - the picture shows him with one of his favorite instruments in the salt lake of Salinas Grandes, close to Purmamarca.
